Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of most border crossings.
The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that contains a number of amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
